I found this company after searching for a solution stemming from a conversation that I had with an LE friend.  We talked about gear how in certain situations, he needed to be REALLY discrete.  With the cold weather in the...sort of near future, I thought this would be a great product to tell you guys about.

I found this company after searching for a solution stemming from a conversation that I had with an LE friend.  We talked about gear how in certain situations, he needed to be REALLY discrete.  With the cold weather in the...sort of near future, I thought this would be a great product to tell you guys about.  Not everyone likes to wear beanies in cold weather.  It's a known fact that most of the heat from your body escapes out of your head.  If you live up north where you get those icicles on the ass winters, going without headwear is a no-no. Here is "The Cap Insulator" from PolarWrap.  Coincidentally, they make a product that I've seen before that I was always curious about.  It would be especially of interest to teams that regularly use balaclava's.  That review will be coming up next.

The Insulator is exactly that.  It fits into caps giving it a very effective means of not only keeping the noggin warm, but also reduces lost body heat.  It's not still nor bulky.  As you can see, it does have some thinkness so be prepared to readjust the fit.

You can't assume that you'll perspire when using this on cold days.  I honestly haven't spent much time with this in the heat.  With that, I can't give you an honest assessment as to how much this would soak up.  I don't think that it would given the materials of 100% polyester fill and 100% nylon shell.  At the same time, this is easily washable.

Looks put together pretty well.  The overall construction reminds me of a quilted jacket, but not nearly as bulky.  The stitching is single row.

The cut is a common sense one.  There's a scallop where the back should go.  When placed in your cap, you won't see the Insulator at the back of your head.

At first, I was worried about this thing thinking it'd move around and be a pain in the ass to bother with.  Wrong.  The Insulator is cut so that it can be tucked into the inner flap that all of my caps have.

This is a VERY welcome piece that will be excellent come late fall/winter.  Time to get some TRG hats made.
