There’s a new product that the fine folks at Jones Tactical have been working on and I kind of dropped the ball since I was relocating and trying to get life settle. I’m looking to post a review about in within a weeks time. Stay tuned. It’s a really nice piece and will be of interest to our readers who train in the field a lot.
Hi everyone. Sorry for the absence. Life has been busy over the last few months.
Interestingly enough, I’ve gotten letters regarding child safety. Not really something of topic here at Tactical Review Group, but with a step daughter, this subject really interests me because it’s of huge concern. Moreso since I despise crimes against not only women, but also children.
My area of expertise is certainly not in the child safety department, but what I’d like to do is to approach it as I would a review. I can’t make a recommendation about the products because I’m already biased towards the high tech pieces. Give me a few weeks. Hopefully I can give the parents here the tools to give our children a stronger chance against the predators out there.

First off, I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Dawson and I’ll be taking the place of Ry. I’ll be helping with the Tactical Review Group site as well as assisting with the other site administrators.

I myself am very familiar with Jones Tactical as I am a client myself. I want to take the time to give all of you a heads up about the logo shirts that they have in stock. Currently shirts are available on Light Olive shirts with sizes ranging from Medium through 2XL. Shirts are $15 each with the 2XL being $17. Check the Jones Tactical site for more complete datails.
First of all, on behalf of the team at Tactical Review Group, I’d like to thank all of you for your interest in this site. With 40+ countries visiting us regularly, it seems that we’re reaching a pretty broad audience.
Things have admittedly been slow. I myself have been pretty busy with the real word stuff. Still, I try to research gear on a daily basis. A few months back, i procured a Leupold RX-1000TBR laser rangefinder. I’ve used it several times in long range settings and I have to say that I’m damn impressed so far. I’ve read of issues about not being able to grab a reading, but I haven’t had the problem. Granted, I’ve used this on near optimal days.
Another item that we, Tactical Review Group, have received is a prototype piece from Jones Tactical. Essentially, it’s a mini MOLLE chest panel. I’m real excited about it and I’m hoping this is a sign of eve more great JT pieces that could come about. Each of us have tested, reviewed and evaluated it. I’m hoping to throw that out before the holiday stretch comes on fast and furious. With the new year coming up, I forsee not being able to be on here. It’ll be an interesting year. If I don’t make it back on here before then, Have a great holiday stretch. It should be a time to reflect on life over the past and give thanks for it. Most important are the people that bless our lives with their mere presence.
As some of you know, one of our members, Flork, has left his old place of employment and onto bigger and better things. Now, he’s at Apex Tactical Specialties out of Los Osos California. He currently works on S&W (I’ve seen his work on a wheel gun which was badass) and 1911s. He just told me that he’s going to take Beretta, Heckler & Koch USP/P2000/P30/HK45 and CZ projects on soon. He has since moved on from doing work on SIG SAUER firearms, something that he has become really well known for. You’ll be hearing more about him in the future. Guaranteed.
None. I’m surprised that many of you think that we dislike a given site because of a competition thing. Reality is that I, as well as ALL of the other admins are fans of your MilSpecMonkey sites…your Military Morons sites…ITS Tactical sites…etc. Maybe there are comments against us by some sites that we don’t know about? Still, it doesn’t change our opinion of them. They do excellent reviews and articles and have carved niches for themselves that are to be commended. Face it, while there are a multitude of sites like ours, we all strive for the common goal: Reviewing items that consumers might not be able to check out in your area. That’s EXACTLY why we started Tactical Review Group.
Each of us come from varying backgrounds. All of us were frustrated with the usual buying of a product without having seen it in person and then being disappointed or maybe even pleasantly surprised. At the same time, we’ve all gone through the usual routine of ordering something, only to stumble upon a different manufacturer that made a product just as nice. Options. Gear isn’t cheap to have to go through hit or miss purchases. Knowledge is power and we absolutely suggest that you check out the other tactical sites in addition to ours.

This is the book that the HBO 7 part series was created from. I just started on it and after 30 pages, looks like it’s going to make for a good read. Both this and One Bullet Away are nice companions to the Generation Kill movie. Will let you guys know how this pans out.

Awhile back, fellow admin Viator turned me onto a movie named Generation Kill. It’s a true account on the Marine 1st Recon. The movie is an HBO mini series consisting of 7 episodes. It’s an EXCELLENT movie and Netflix has it available for rent. One of the members was Lt Nate Fick. His book, One Bullet away is an exceptional read which also touches a bit on the events in Generation Kill. If you haven’t checked this out, I highly recommend it.
For those of you who are die hard SIG SAUER supporters, you will have heard of GGI/Gray Guns ala Bruce Gray. His right hand man, Scott aka Flork aka TRG member, has moved onto another venture. As I get more info, I’ll let you guys know more details. I don’t want to let too much out right now.

Hey all..
Things have been quiet around here, eh? I for one have taken time off after the death of my cousin. It was a shocker. Pretty young guy, worked hard, always nice to everyone…not right that the good die young. Unfortunately, he leaves behind a beautiful wife and baby. A trust fund has been set up for his son. If you’re at all interested in making a donation, please let me know. Would like to thank the other admins for taking over my watch duties.
I have a few reviews that I’m working on. Since there has been interest in their products, I’m going to review a few more pieces of eyewear from Numa. With things FINALLY cooling of here in Alabama, I’ll post my review on a cold weather product that would be of interest especially those in the cold north (although we do get snow here in Alabama). Another one will be of a different demolition tool. Lastly, I’m working on doing a review of something from the fine folks at Survival Armor over in Fort Myers Florida.
